West Perthshire, 26 August 2010 at 07:56 hours. The area near lochan nan cat, at the north-west foot of Ben Lawers was very boggy and my socks were already wet from treading on sphagnum moss and numerous puddles. Cotton grass is a good indication that the area is boggy as indicated here. Camera details: EF17-40mm f/4L USM, 1/3 sec at f / 19

Southern Cairngorms, 22 August 2010 at 07:26 hours. I made a very early start from the tent in the Lairig Ghru at 5.00am. Sticking my head out of the tent straight into a cloud of midge so thick I thought it was raining. Awful! In my haste to get away from them, I forgot my wide angle lens so had to make a 10 minute detour back to the tent. Camera details: EF17-40mm f/4L USM, 1/6 sec at f / 19

Camera details: EF70-200mm f/4L USM, 1/10 sec at f / 16
Southern Cairngorms, 21 August 2010 at 17:02 hours. The tiny Corrour bothy (bottom right) is dwarfed by Cairn Toul (4th highest mountain in Britain). Strathearn, Perthshire, 07 July 2010 at 21:33 hours. I first heard the phrase 'transent light' from the Scottish photographer Ian Cameron and exactly describes this fleeting type of light. This was a chance encounter with some transient light on my way home from photographing furthe north. The light was fading fast but I took the image resting the camera on the car. Camera details: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, 1/15 sec at f / 5.6
Glen Almond, Perthshire, 08 July 2010 at 18:09 hours. This farm building is a few miles along the Glen Almond track to Loch Tay. The building was initially below cloud so I waited for a gap in the clouds and the sun to shine on it before taking the photo. Four photographs stitched together. Camera details: 105mm, 1/180 sec at f / 8.0
Braemar, 15 June 2010 at 04:40 hours. I had been wanting to overnight on a mountain for some time - I had planned to walk the Grey Corries and Ben Nevis over three days, but weather put paid to that - and finally decided on Lochnagar. The evening was cloudy so no sunset, but waking early the next morning from a fairly comfortable night in a bivvy bag, the sky was a bit clearer. I walked up the nearby Meikle Pap and waited for the first light to paint the top of the corrie in an orange glow. Super! Camera details: 10-20mm, 10.0 sec at f / 22
