Finland, 02 August 2010 at 08:27 hours. As far as I could tell this bridge did not connect to any path. I found it whilst driving around some backroads in northern Finland. Camera details: 10-20mm, 0.3 sec at f / 22.
Finland, 02 August 2010 at 08:04 hours. Driving near Kuusamo in northern Finland one early morning, I spotted this elk not far from the side of the road. I used the car as a hide to take a few photographs before it sauntered off. Camera details: EF70-200mm f/4L USM, 1/250 sec at f / 4.5.

Ben Alder, 10 July 2010 at 18:17 hours. This is a branch of the burn that I wanted to cross to walk up Ben Alder (in the distance). It was in spate after persistant rain for most of the day. Instead I spent a couple of hours by the stream, taking photographs. This was a (very) brief spell when the sun came out. Camera details: 10-20mm, 2.0 sec at f / 27.
Glen Quaich, Perthshire, 08 July 2010 at 21:38 hours. I found this attractive lochan above Glen Quaich. I had spent the last few hours cycling and walking up Glen Almond, but lost the sun behind hills so I decided to drive up Glen Quaich in time for the sunset. I wasn't disappointed. Camera details: 10-20mm, 3.0 sec at f / 22.
Glen Quaich, Perthshire, 08 July 2010 at 21:34 hours. Yet another viewpoint from which the mighty Schiehallion dominates the skyline. Camera details: 10-20mm, 3.0 sec at f / 22.
Glen Almond, Perthshire, 08 July 2010 at 18:09 hours. This farm building is a few miles along the Glen Almond track to Loch Tay. The building was initially below cloud so I waited for a gap in the clouds and the sun to shine on it before taking the photo. Four photographs stitched together. Camera details: 105mm, 1/180 sec at f / 8.0.
Glen Almond, Perthshire, 08 July 2010 at 17:43 hours. The cycle ride up the Glen was taxing against the wind, but super on the way back. This was a small burn I encountered on the way. Camera details: 10-20mm, 8.0 sec at f / 22.
Strathearn, Perthshire, 07 July 2010 at 21:33 hours. I first heard the phrase 'transent light' from the Scottish photographer Ian Cameron and exactly describes this fleeting type of light. This was a chance encounter with some transient light on my way home from photographing furthe north. The light was fading fast but I took the image resting the camera on the car. Camera details: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, 1/15 sec at f / 5.6.
Strathearn, Perthshire, 07 July 2010 at 21:04 hours. I love breaks in the cloud through which sunlight can stream through. Camera details: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, 1/180 sec at f / 8.0.
Glen Quaich, Perthshire, 07 July 2010 at 20:02 hours. A small, derelict house above Glen Quaich. Now a sheep shelter! Camera details: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, 1/15 sec at f / 9.5.
Perthshire, 07 July 2010 at 20:01 hours. Glen Quaich is a peaceful valley that runs along the shores of Loch Freuchie and connects Amulree in the east to Kenmore in the west. This derelict house stood in a field near the single track road. I applied a posterisation effect to it. Camera details: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, 1/10 sec at f / 9.5.
Perthshire, 07 July 2010 at 19:08 hours. A tiny loch above Glen Quaich and a small hut. Schiehallion dominates the view to the north. Camera details: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, 1/180 sec at f / 5.6.
Kinross, Perthshire, 07 July 2010 at 06:24 hours. Driving back north after dropping my family off at Edinburgh airport, I noticed an interesting sky over Loch Leven. I turned off, found a quiet road by the loch and took this image. Camera details: EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, 1/250 sec at f / 5.6.
